INFORMATION OF INTEREST!
Starting March 9th 2022, 00.00 hours, Government Decision Nº171 of February 3rd 2022 on the extension of the state of alert on the territory of Romania and the establishment of measures applicable throughout it for the prevention and combatting of the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, is no longer into effect. Therefore, all restrictions inherent to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the restriction or prohibition of certain activities provided for in said legal instrument have been lifted.
Third-country nationals have the possibility to apply for entry visas to Romania, regardless of the purpose of travel, in line with the specific legislation in the field. Visa applications shall be lodged with the Romanian diplomatic missions or consular posts abroad, competent in the area of abode or residence of each applicant; in special, urgent cases, visa applications can be lodged at the diplomatic missions or consular posts of Romania from the state where the applicant is legally present.
Please take note! Third-country nationals who wish to remain in Romania for a longer period of time, on the basis of a long-stay visa, are required to register with the Romanian authorities no later than 30 days before the expiry of the visa, in order to avoid legal penalties. For details in this regard, please go to https://igi.mai.gov.ro/en/contact-en. Third-state nationals who are temporarily present in Romania, on the grounds of a short-stay visa, can remain on the territory of Romania only until their authorised stay, as established by said visa, expires (the authorised stay cannot exceed the number of days marked in the visa sticker).
